    Fall Cocktail Recipe

The refreshing flavors of Jamaican rum, Campari, orange and spiced honey are good any time of year!

For some of us right now, we are ready for winter to be over. We are ready for summer, saltwater swims, concerts, vacations, barbecues and just all-around fun. The good news is that there’s a cocktail that can both remind us of the summer that’s past and help us celebrate the months we are in! This melding of Jamaican rum, Campari, Grand Marnier and Spiced Honey Syrup will warm you up while keeping you refreshed, with a nod to those fun vacations and cookouts in recent memory. I recommend making the syrup ahead of time so that the ingredients have time to steep and maximize the flavor of this unique cocktail.

    Instructions
    1. Honey Spiced Syrup
    2. Add 1 to 2 parts honey and 1 part hot water to a pot over medium/high heat. To make a batch of syrup for several cocktails, use ½ cup to ¾ cup honey to ½ cup water. Stir and add water until honey is thin and adequate for cocktail mixing. Add a dash of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and clove and fresh orange slices to taste and continue to heat until syrup starts a slow rolling boil. Remove from heat and let sit until cool. Strain syrup before use.
    to Make the Cocktail
    1. Add the rum, Campari, Grand Marnier, lime and Spiced Honey Syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until the outside of the shaker is frosted. Strain and serve in either a coup or martini glass. Garnish with a cinnamon-dusted or nutmeg-dusted orange slice.
