Meet the hard-working staff behind the magazines you love.
|Justin Williams, Chief Executive Officer
Justin is originally from a small town in Hampton Roads, Va., and made his way to southeastern North Carolina via a four-year stop at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. From there, Justin spent two years on the Outer Banks before settling down in Brunswick County and calling this area home. He founded and started Carolina Marketing Company in 2005 by launching North Brunswick Magazine. With the help of many talented people, Carolina Marketing Company was able to make additions to its business, including South Brunswick Magazine, Discovery Map franchises and partnerships with local companies to offer customers more opportunity to advertise their businesses to specific target markets.
|Sandi Grigg, Chief Administrative Officer
Growing up in a small town in the foothills of North Carolina, Sandi always dreamed of living on the coast. In her youth, she was always by the water; she was raised tending a big garden and stomping around in the creek. She spent her adolescent days on a Jet Ski or fishing on Lake James, N.C., and she and her friends would camp and hike the Linville Gorge. Attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte she felt like she was getting out of my small-town box and living the city life; at the same time, she was getting a little closer to the ocean. Moving to Wilmington has been a dream come true, and the life she has created has been a blessing. She enjoys kayaking the Cape Fear, fishing the shores of Carolina Beach, and picking up seashells and shark’s teeth wherever she is. At home, she loves to cook and play with her dogs in the backyard. She also enjoys DIY home improvement endeavors. No outdoor shower, fire pit or flower bed is too big of a job! Being a part of the North Brunswick Magazine and South Brunswick Magazine team has taught Sandi that you really can enjoy your career.
|Allison Barrett Carter, Managing Editor
Allison is a writer who relocated to Leland from Chapel Hill with her husband and two sons. After a career in content marketing and overseeing the launch of the NC Blogger Network, she was excited to find a career with North Brunswick Magazine that merges her passions: journalism and online content to enhance community. Her creative writing essays have appeared in places such as New York Times, Washington Post, Redbook and numerous print anthologies, such as Chicken Soup for the Soul. Allison loves watching her sons play on the beach and paddling the river behind their house.
|Molly Harrison, Editor
Molly is a native North Carolinian who has been pulled toward the water ever since she left her hometown of Burlington at age 18. She graduated from East Carolina University, moved directly to Nags Head and have never considered leaving. She’s been working as a writer and an editor for the last 25 years and has worked with North Brunswick Magazine and South Brunswick Magazine since their beginnings. Though she doesn’t currently live in Brunswick County, she feels like she really knows it after editing these publications for the last 10 years. When she’s not working, she is practicing or teaching yoga or doing something outside — running half-marathons, swimming in the ocean, paddleboarding on the sound, gardening with her husband or trying to keep up with her two kids.
|Lee Ann Bolton, Account Executive
Lee Ann was raised in the small town of Madison, N.C., and is truly a country girl at heart! She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she studied hospitality management, business, and theater. By way of a career in hotel management, she arrived in Wilmington and fell in love with living on the coast. Wanting to pursue her passion for the arts, she opened her own photography business in 2013. She has a genuine love for meeting new people and hearing their stories. Thanks to North Brunswick Magazine, she continues to build relationships as an account executive and contributing photographer. Lee Ann lives in Wilmington with her husband, their son and two rescued dogs. You are likely to find her boating, beaching or dining at one of her many favorite restaurants around town!
|George Jacob, Account Executive
George was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., and has four years of military experience with the U.S. Air Force. His wife, Barbara (a.k.a. Bobbie or BJ), and he moved to Brunswick County with their Shihtzus Gotcha and Gizzmo and are now raising three girls here. George’s work experiences have taken him from paper distribution to book manufacturing to printing and mailing to now selling advertising for North Brunswick Magazine and South Brunswick Magazine. His hobbies include snow skiing, water skiing, bowling, golf, and trap and skeet shooting. He’s an ambassador for the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Shallotte Rotary Club and an instructor for the First Tee Carolina Leadership Academy.
| Andy Garno, Creative Director
Andy fell in love with the North Carolina coast the first time he saw it and vowed to move here someday. Originally from Michigan and while still in college, he remembers his first vacation to Nags Head in 1991. Hurricane Bob almost prevented him from getting onto the Outer Banks but it ended up only brushing the coast. The following days, seeing the ocean with all its beauty and power created such a connection that he moved here 6 years later, eventually starting my own commercial graphic design studio. Andy can not imagine moving away.
