Tyler’s Cover at Mallory Creek Plantation
By Rebecca Pierre

It’s no secret that the Leland area has been experiencing a population explosion over the past few years. It naturally follows that there are good reasons for this phenomenon. Tyler’s Cove at Mallory Creek Plantation is one of those good reasons. Founder and builder Terry F. Turner, a life-long resident and one of the finest home builders in the area, has been building quality homes for 35 years, and the homes at Tyler’s Cove attest to his reputation.

Buying a new home is one of the major decisions you will make in your life, whether it is your first home or one in which you plan to retire.

“The neighborhood age range is from 18 to 80,” says Kelly Sloop, broker at Tyler’s Cove. “These are great starter homes, retirement homes or homes for anyone starting out new for any reason. They are easy to maintain, yet they still have yards.”

You are invited to tour the decorated, cottage-style, single-family model homes. These homes are well equipped with full appliance packages that include washers, dryers and refrigerators. Cable and phone outlets are built into the homes, and microwaves are vented to the outside. The homes include covered porches and patios.

Each one- or two-car garage has a service door to the outside, is finished inside with sheet rock and paint, and has pull-down steps to the spacious storage area above. An extensive landscape and sprinkler-system package is available for both the front and back yards. All utilities are underground, and streets are lined with sidewalks and street lights. There are paved walking trails throughout the community, as well as competition-size community pool and a furnished clubhouse with a full kitchen.

Mallory Creek Plantation is along N.C. 133, just 3.8 miles south of Leland and 10 minutes from Wilmington. Two miles farther south is Brunswick Nature Park, where you can explore more than 900 acres by hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking and picnicking. Continue south and 20 minutes of driving will find you in quaint Southport for antiques shopping or gallery visiting or swimming or sunning at the nearby beaches of Oak Island. Two miles north of Tyler’s Cove, and directly across from the elementary school, you will find Brunswick River Park with its picnic shelters and playgrounds. Wilmington has many excellent opportunities for shopping or going to theaters, museums, restaurants, libraries, parks and universities and colleges.

“You can purchase a home that is already built, or have one built and be involved in the process from the ground up, which allows you to customize such things as the kitchen cabinets to your own specifications,” says Sloop. “Single-family homes range from $129,900, to $172,000, and the seller makes a closing cost contribution.”

One level townhomes are also available.
